Embattled Raleigh County prosecutor has license annulled

A Raleigh County prosecuting attorney who resigned in October amid misconduct and neglect of duty allegations has had his law license annulled. A court order filed by the West Virginia Supreme Court this week granted a petition to annul Benjamin Hatfield’s license to practice law by voluntary consent, according to the order. Hatfield resigned from his role as prosecuting attorney after the Raleigh County Commission began the process of removing him. Hatfield had been embroiled in controversy since mid-August over sexual misconduct claims.
