Wintry weather to impact travel today

A winter storm watch is in effect through Wednesday. The watch, issued by the National Weather Service, calls for up to five inches of snow in some areas beginning early Tuesday morning. Officials expect heavy mixed precipitation that could cause slippery road conditions during the morning and evening commutes Tuesday. A winter storm warning is also in effect from 4 a.m. Tuesday through 11 a.m. Wednesday for parts of eastern Raleigh, Fayette, Nicholas and Webster counties. Eyewitness News said those areas expected to get up to seven inches of snow in some areas and ice accumulations up to a quarter of an inch.
