Couple faces charges for defrauding an elderly couple

A pair have been arrested after stealing more than $35,000 over the span of a year from an elderly person in Greenbrier County. Steven Simpson and Ashley Simpson of Charmco are facing charges related to a complaint in early January about fraudulent activity on a bank account belonging to an 82-year-old woman and her now dead husband, according to a news release from the West Virginia State Police. The Simpsons had done construction work on the home of the elderly couple and after being paid with a check, repeatedly made payments to their account using the elderly couple’s account and routing numbers.They’re facing 103 counts of computer fraud, financial exploitation of a elderly person and fraudulent schemes.
