A ceremony was held recently to honor the life of a McDowell County firefighter who died in the line of duty last week. War Volunteer Fire Department Deputy Chief Jeffrey Lawson died February 17 while responding to a fire in the Jolo area. Friends, family, and colleagues honored his life with a procession that beganb on Bigley Avenue in Charleston and traveled to Douglas Mortuary in Welch. Tributes continue to roll in on social media.
