How much do you need to make to be in the middle class in West Virginia?

The financial website, SmartAsset used Pew Research’s definition of what it takes to be in the middle class, and came up with numbers for each state. To be considered middle class, you have to earn two-thirds to double the median household income within a certain area. The study found it takes between roughly $50,000 and $150,000 to be middle class nationally. In West Virginia, it takes roughly between $37,000 and $112,000 to be considered middle class, which is one of the states on the lower side of the scale. It takes a slightly higher income in Kentucky and Ohio. Arlington, Virginia, is the most expensive city for the middle class, according to SmartAsset.
