A Mason County grand jury has moved to indict a school bus operator accused of driving while intoxicated on dozens of charges. Eyewitness News said Leslie M. Watterson of Point Pleasant has been indicted on 54 counts of gross child neglect creating substantial risk of serious bodily injury and one count of driving under the influence with minors. The substitute bus driver was arrested in May 2024 following reports of driving in the wrong lane, making incorrect turns and falling asleep at the wheel while children were on the bus. Prosecutors said law enforcement conducted a sobriety test based on impairment factors and sufficient probable cause was found to criminally charge Watterson.
