Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced this week that grant funding will go to a handful of West Virginia agencies to fight the opioid epidemic. Parkersburg’s Mid-Ohio Valley Fellowship Home, a residential recovery facility, has been awarded $80,000 to provide peer recovery support for Wood County. The Berkley County Commission will use $60,000 to provide comprehensive, evidence-based recovery services to substance abuse offenders. The Tucker County Commission will utilize $56,000 to employ prevention resource officers. West Virginia Sober Living has been allocated $80,000 for reintegration efforts in Kanawha and Monongalia County. Morrisey discussed ongoing efforts to combat substance abuse and addiction, including the management of about $1 billion in opioid settlement money through the West Virginia First Foundation.
