St. Albans police department will soon offer pet microchip scanning

A new pet microchip scanning station will be opening in St. Albans on Thursday. The St. Albans Police Station at 613 MacCorkle Avenue will be providing the service around the clock, according to a news release. The station will be opened March 13 when the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association will provide a chip installation clinic. Police said the clinic will run from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. and dogs may be chipped at a cost of $25 each. KCHS, along with the Kanawha Obedience Training Club are partnering with police to open the station in memory and Sgt. James Butler and his K-9 partner Deuce, who both served the St. Albans Police Department.
