Deputies locate a suspect wanted in a Kanawha County manhunt

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office found a man who was wanted following a pursuit Thursday that injured a deputy. Tyler Dante Leach of Charleston was wanted for failure to appear in court, along with multiple felony charges including obstructing an officer, violation of probation, fleeing with reckless indifference and fleeing causing bodily harm following a chase in the Coopers Creek area, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. A deputy chasing him suffered a severe hand injury and had to call off his pursuit of Leach initially. Leach was located near the Coopers Creek area by deputies and West Virginia State Police Troopers after an extensive manhunt. He is currently being held at South Central Regional Jail without bond as he awaits arraignment. Deputies said that due to the chase, Leach could face additional charges.
