DNR announces a record-setting tiger trout caught at Mannington Lake

A West Virginia angler reeled in a state record catch last month in Marion County. Robert Riggs, of Grant Town landed a tiger trout measuring more than 27 inches and weighing 12.55 pounds at Mannington Lake, according to a news release from the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. The news release said Riggs used a casting spoon and 6-pound test line to catch the monster trout, topping a previous weight record. DNR officials noted Mike Connolly still holds the state’s tiger trout length record after landing a 28.7-inch specimen in 2011.
