A Cabell County man accused of assaulting his mother and responding officers has been found competent to stand trial. Eyewitness News said Richard Hayden faces several charges following a December 2023 incident in Barboursville. Police said Hayden held his mother in her home for several hours while he allegedly assaulted and threatened to kill her. After an assessment, Hayden was found competent to stand trial. A pretrial hearing in the case has been scheduled for June 9.
