The status hearing for a man indicted on a DUI causing death charge in Kanawha County will be held this month. In October 2023, deputies said Ryan Jones drove his pickup truck off the road and hit a tree in Sissonville. He and his and his passenger 26-year-old Dustin Myers were both taken to the hospital where Myers later died of his injuries. Investigators believed both speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. Our partners at Eyewitness News said Jones’ attorney filed a motion to continue the case as plea negotiations with the prosecution continue. A status hearing will be held May 12 with the pretrial hearing and trial scheduled for August.
