John Smith said he moved to Rand in 1969 and over the years he has had countless issues with raw sewage backing up into his home and yard. Smith said the sewage has been up to three cinderblocks high in parts of his home, causing major problems Smith said. ” what really makes him angry is that no one in authority will listen or take the time to try to help with this, up until this current commission regime that’s there now.” residents said sewage coming into their homes and on their property goes beyond the work currently being done. Some residents of Rand took it to the Kanawha County Commission on Thursday to highlight some of these problems. Commission President Ben Salango said his office is now launching an investigation in order to provide answers and hopefully a solution for the people of Rand.
