New superintendent is named at Boone County Schools

A permanent superintendent has been chosen for Boone County Schools.
Allen Sexton was appointed this week by state superintendent Michele Blatt to be the district’s new superintendent following a special circumstance review and state takeover, according to a news release from the West Virginia Department of Education. Sexton currently serves as the director of special education of Raleigh County Schools. He will succeed Deirdre Cline, who has been serving as interim county superintendent, beginning July 1. Cline will serve as a transition liaison. Sexton holds a bachelor of elementary education and teaching and a Master of special education from Marshall University.
