The state has taken over the Nicholas County school system, and now the Board of Education announced it’s looking for resumes from those interested in replacing two board members. Superintendent Terrance Beam and assistant superintendent Kelly Whytsell resigned after a special circumstances review found issues with employment practices and personnel. Nicholas County residents in the Birch or Gauley District may apply by July 7. Appointments will be made by Aug. 4 for terms set to expire on July 30, 2026.
