Several inches of rain dropped on the Sharon area of Kanawha County, resulting in much of the bank of Paint Branch to be washed away along with countless possessions. Carol Gallion said she has lived up Sharon Hollow for 50 years, and has never experienced the rain and flooding that came through the area on Thursday, ripping down power lines and taking off sections of her home and yard. We’ll survive. We have friends,” Gallion said. “We have family. We’ll be alright.” With much of the area beginning clean up Thursday, Kanawha County Emergency Manager CW Sigman said relief efforts are underway but with more rain possibly on the way people should stay alert if their homes are vulnerable to flooding.
