Crews begin repairing potholes on I-64 bridge

More road work is scheduled this weekend for the Fort Hill Bridge that carries Interstate 64 through Charleston. Crews began preventative patching in the westbound slow lane of the bridge over the weekend. WVDOH bridge crews will survey the bridge for signs of concrete that may cause potholes in the future, mill those areas out and patch them with concrete, according to a news release from the DOH. They’ll also replace recent temporary asphalt patches with concrete. Engineers said they hope to go to bid this fall with a project to do more extensive patching, lay down a protective membrane and a layer of asphalt across the entire bridge. That repair should last until a contract can go out to replace the entire bridge deck.
