State Police checkpoint planned for Putnam County in August

If you’re going to be out on the roads in Putnam County next month, know that State Police will be setting up a sobriety checkpoint.

Troopers will be conducting the checkpoint on Wednesday, August 21st from 6 p.m. to midnight, right in front of Poca Middle School along Route 62 in Poca.

And if weather or traffic becomes an issue, troopers say they may move the checkpoint to Route 34 in front of Chapman’s Funeral Home in Hurricane. The goal is to crack down on drunk driving. Police are reminding drivers that if you see someone you suspect is under the influence—or if you spot reckless driving or stranded motorists—you can call *SP, that’s *77, from your cell phone to report it.
