Road closure in Great Smoky Mountain National Park could cause delays

Newfound Gap Road (US441) in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park is closed until further notice due to road damage. A landslide happened over the weekend on Newfound Gap Road between mile markers 12 and 13 on the Tennessee side of the park. The National Park Service says it is working in collaboration with the Federal Highway Administration to assess the structural integrity of the damaged section of road. They advise travelers planning to travel between North Carolina and Tennessee to use Interstate 40 as an alternative route.
