A program in West Virginia is teaming up with law enforcement this August to target those who aren’t stopping at stop signs and red lights. Beau Evans, Region 2 Governor’s Highway Safety Program coordinator, told Eyewitness News the goal is to reinforce what the stop signs and red lights actually mean, not just slow down, but to stop. The Target Red campaign started back in 2008 as a pilot program in Beckley and the results showed a decrease of 60% in traffic infractions. Again this month, officers are targeting people running red lights and making stop sign violations.
