Charleston joins Ascend WV program

It was announced on Friday that Charleston would become the next location for the Ascend West Virginia Program, that pays selected remote working applicants $12,000 to move to the Mountain State. On the heels of the pandemic, Shane Powers and his family moved to West Virginia from Arlington, Va. using Ascend West Virginia. “It would take forever to go to Target or to go wherever, where now there’s no traffic,” Powers and his wife work from home so they are together all the time. All the family time we have is the biggest benefit.” Said Powers. Charleston is joining Morgantown, Lewisburg Shepherdstown, the Eastern Panhandle and Elkins. Powers was one of the first 20 people to move to the state using the program.
