The Department of Education recognized the state’s best teachers and school personnel this week at the West Virginia Culture Center. Tiffany Barnes, a special education teacher at Wheeling Middle School in Ohio County, was named Teacher of the Year. Brandon Kelly, a custodian at Washington District Elementary School in Upshur County, was named School Service Personnel of the Year. The West Virginia Teacher of the Year program is one of the longest-running in the country for educator recognition.
