Jackson County Schools launched a new mobile weapons detection system a few days ago, and the Jackson County Board of Education has also approved emergency panic buttons for staff to wear. The board voted 5-0 to partner with a company called Centengix that will provide all staff with the wearable buttons. Eyewitness News said pushing the button three times would signal an in-house response if the teacher needs help with things like unruly students or medical emergencies. They’ll start training this fall.
