One of the suspects in shooting near Shawnee Sports Complex is found not guilty

A Kanawha County jury has found a man accused of participating in a shootout near the Shawnee Sports Complex last year not guilty following a trial that lasted about three days. 25-year old Kaden Bowman of Dunbar was on trial for wanton endangerment with a firearm. He claimed self-defense in the shooting that took place in May 2024 along Smoot Avenue in Dunbar. Shots were fired in the same direction as the Shawnee Sports Complex, where several youth sporting events were being held. Eyewitness News said Bowman was released from custody immediately following the verdict. He has been at the South Central Regional Jail since his arrest on May 19, 2024. Zion Clark, 24, and Antonio Jacobs, 19, were sentenced to prison in connection with the case.
