A mother in St. Albans was arrested after it was discovered she left her children sleeping at home unsupervised, police said. Rachelle Ann Williams, 36, of St. Albans, was originally arrested Wednesday due to an outstanding capias, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court. According to the complaint, Williams told officers upon her arrest that she needed to go home to check on her two children. She claimed they were not home alone and were with a man named Kenneth Dale Allen, but when police entered the home later on, there was no one there except her two sleeping children. The complaint later states that police reached out to Allen, who stated that when he left the apartment, Williams was still with the children.Officers said the front door to the home was unlocked, allowing anyone to possibly enter the home and take the children.
