211 hotline sees an uptick in calls

As West Virginians face a lapse in SNAP benefits, calls to the state’s 211 hotline are surging. Operated by the United Way, the line connects people with local food pantries and emergency resources. Governor Patrick Morrisey is urging anyone in need to call 211 or text their zip code to 898-211. United Way of Central West Virginia President Margaret O’Neal says call volume has spiked, with more than a hundred food-related calls in one day. Eyewitnesss News said staff are working extra hours to make sure residents get the help they need.
