Charleston city leaders are making it easier and cheaper to park downtown during the holidays with free metered parking on certain days.
The city is waiving all Saturday parking fees on November 29, December 6, 13, 20, 27, and January 3. The city-owned garages are already free on weekends, on holidays, and from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekdays.
Mayor Amy Goodwin says the goal is to thank residents and encourage people to shop, dine, and celebrate the season downtown.
