Marshall Thundering Herd will open its 2027 season with a historic first-ever matchup against the Alabama Crimson Tide. The game is set for September 4, 2027, at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Marshall University athletics director Gerald Harrison said tThe matchup completes Marshall’s 2027 non-conference schedule.
Harrison also noted the connection between Huntington and Tuscaloosa. Four Marshall players lost in the 1970 plane crash were from Tuscaloosa, known locally as the Marshall Four, and a statue honoring them was unveiled last month at the Benjamin Barnes YMCA.
