Marshall University and City of Huntington leaders provided an update Monday on progress in the IDEA District, a major development west of Marshall’s campus aimed at boosting innovation, jobs and student opportunities.
The focus was on the Institute for Cybersecurity, now under construction at Fourth Avenue and Hal Greer Boulevard. The four-story, 73-thousand-square-foot building will include 13 labs, with construction expected to be completed by July 2027. They also unveiled plans for a new restaurant on the building’s first floor. While some elements, including a proposed hotel, are still being finalized due to property acquisition, city and university officials say the project represents a significant step forward for economic growth in the region.
