WV Governor requested Purple Hearts for the 2 Nation Guard officer attacked on Nov 26 in DC

West Virginia’s governor said he is requesting the Purple Heart be awarded to two National Guard members who were shot – one fatally – while deployed in Washington, D.C. Gov. Patrick Morrisey said his office has formally requested that U.S. Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom and Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe be awarded the Purple Heart, which is given to soldiers wounded or killed while serving. Both Beckstrom and Wolfe were shot in an attack on Nov. 26 near the Farragut Square Metro Station in Washington, D.C., blocks from the White House. Beckstrom died from her injuries in the incident later that day. Wolfe has made big strides in his recovery in recent weeks.
