Mother appears in court after teens are found living in poor conditions

A Kanawha County woman accused of allowing teenagers to live in unsafe and unsanitary conditions appeared in court Wednesday, where a judge denied a request to modify her bond. Brittani Gamache of Charleston is charged with child neglect creating a risk of injury after three teens were found living in what court records describe as a home completely unfit for living. Records say animal urine and feces covered much of the floors and furniture, and the kitchen and refrigerator were in poor condition with little food available. Prosecutors say Gamache was previously in a relationship with Kasey Alexander Monceaux, who also faces similar charges. Judge Maryclaire Akers denied the bond request.
