DNA profile ties a Weston man to three separate cases

A Weston man is facing charges after state police linked his DNA to multiple investigations, including a sexual assault. According to a criminal complaint, members of the West Virginia State Police Crimes Task Force were notified on January 8 that the same DNA profile had been identified in three separate cases. Troopers say the cases originated from the Huntington Police Department, Oak Hill Police Department, and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, all naming 36-year-old Vernon Wiley. Investigators later learned one case involved a sexual assault reported at William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital in June of last year. Wiley is charged with third-degree sexual assault and is being held at Central Regional Jail without bond.
