West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey has declared a state of emergency for all 55 counties, with severe winter weather expected across the state this weekend. Morrisey originally declared a state of preparedness on Wednesday in a news release, but declared the state of emergency Friday evening just ahead of the weekend, according to a press release from the Governor’s Office. The declaration means that staff, agencies and resources that were originally put on standby in the state of preparedness declaration are now called upon and put into action.”Governor Morrisey urges West Virginians to closely monitor weather conditions, avoid travel if possible and follow any guidance or instructions issued by state and local emergency management officials,” the release said in part.
