Deputies in Wayne County are asking for the public’s help in a vandalism investigation that contaminated the local water supply. The Wayne County Commission and Sheriff’s Office are offering a $2500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for damaging an Appalachian Power transformer in East Lynn. The incident, reported in mid-January, caused mineral oil to enter the water system, placing affected customers under a “do not consume” order for drinking, bathing, and washing. Anyone with information is asked to call deputies at 304-272-6378 during business hours.
