Putnam County EMS rolls out new system to help cardiac arrest patients

February is American Heart Month, and Putnam County EMS has introduced the PulsePoint app, designed to speed up response times during sudden cardiac arrests.

The app alerts nearby CPR-certified users when someone is experiencing cardiac arrest and shows the closest registered AED locations. The project has been two years in the making and is built around a defibrillator registry to connect people with critical resources faster.

At Wednesday’s kickoff event, two survivors were honored, including an 11-year-old survivor who is encouraging everyone to download the app. The app is available on Apple and Android devices.
