Romanian man sentenced up to 15 years

A Romanian man admitted to installing credit card skimming devices at multiple retailers in West Virginia, amassing a quarter million dollars in fraud totals, federal prosecutors said. Andrei Fagaras, 36, pleaded guilty to an access device fraud charge, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of West Virginia. The release said Fagaras worked with another Romanian, 31-year-old Madalin Olar, to place a skimming device at a grocery store. Prosecutors said Olar is facing six access device charges in a pending case. According to prosecutors,Fagaras installed skimming devices at nine locations in West Virginia, defrauding victims of about $250,000.He faces up to 15 years in prison.
