Funding TTA on ballot for May primary

The Huntington City Council held a special meeting on Friday to discuss the future of the Tri-State Transit Authority. Ultimately, the council passed an ordinance directing the issue of levies funding continued bus service be submitted to voters in May’s primary election. Voters have approved levies funding the TTA and its assets for decades, but recently maintenance costs for Pullman Square have been a point of contention. Pullman has received support from TTA in the past and the city is looking to reinvest in the downtown retail center by making repairs and improvements. As the city struggles to maintain a lease agreement, leaders are considering selling or transferring Pullman to the private sector and out of Huntington’s control.
