An officer involved shooting is under investigation. It happened on New Year’s Eve around 11:30 p.m, and deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office were called to Dawn Street in the West Gate subdivision in Cross Lanes to investigate a report of someone who may have pointed a gun at another man. They confronted the man who initially spoke to them but then began walking away. When Deputies approached him again he fired a handgun at them. Deputies returned fire and he fled, and stopped at a privacy fence and fired again. He was shot by Deputies at that time, and detained. No deputies were hurt, but the man was taken to a hospital for treatment. Dawn Street has been closed during the investigation, but there’s no danger to residents.
