Mayor Wants Back Pay for Firefighters

Firefighters and Charleston Mayor Amy Goodwin have a new agreement. On Monday, Mayor Goodwin announced a $1.7 million agreement between the city of Charleston and the Charleston Professional Firefighters Local 317 union. She said the city’s firefighters have not been paid correctly for holidays since 2012 after the city council approved a change. Mayor Goodwin wants back pay for the firefighters. The Charleston City Council will vote on the new agreement and a bill to the fix the current one on Jan. 21.
