The City of St. Albans is now officially the first dementia-friendly city in West Virginia. The city hosted an Alzheimer’s discussion panel Saturday to discuss the disease and announced the city’s new designation. St. Albans has taken extra steps in recent years to better serve its residents with dementia. The city’s mayor, Scott James, said it’s important for everyone to understand Alzheimer’s and what they can do to help. The event featured a group of panelists consisting of professionals in medical care, long-term care, legal aid, hospice and first responders. Discussions are held at the Hansford Center once a month and are open to the public.
