Pools open for Memorial Day Weekend

Several public swimming pools and water parks are set to open just in time for Memorial Day weekend. St. Albans city park, Coonskin Park, the Barboursville Splash Park and Waves of Fun will all reopen this weekend.

COVID-19 numbers falling

COVID-19 numbers continue to fall in West Virginia. Active case dipped below 55-hundred, that’s the lowest number in over two months. The vaccination rate is just under 50-percent of the population over 12-years-old.

Man held captive in dog cage

A Beckley man is under arrest for holding another man captive inside a dog cage at a house on Foster Avenue. The victim suffered significant injuries from multiple cuts and bruises and is being treated at a local hospital.

No charges filed against officers who shot man armed with a knife

The Kanawha County Prosecutors Office will not pursue charges against Charleston police officers who shot a man armed with a knife last month. Officers shot 33-year-old Denaul Dickerson when he lunged at them with a knife. He was released from the hospital and charged with attempted malicious assault of an officer.
