House of Delegates passes budget bill

The House of Delegates did pass a budget bill. The nearly four-and-a-half-billion-dollar bill came in over seventy-million-dollars below what the governor proposed. WVU’s funding was cut by almost one-and-a-half-million-dollars and Marshall’s funding was cut by 300-thousand-dollars. Their funding could be made up by end-of-year surplus.

Fire truck crash injures driver

Ohio troopers are investigating after a Benton Township fire truck crashed and overturned on Lapperell Road. The fire crew was responding to a structure fire at the time. The driver is in critical condition. No one else was hurt.

Phillips indicted for killing Charleston police officer

Thirty-eight-year-old Joshua Phillips has been indicted on a murder charge in connection to the December shooting death of Charleston Police Officer Cassie Johnson. She was shot while responding to a parking complaint on Garrison Avenue. Philips is also facing drug and weapons charges.

Man arrested for killing woman and injuring child in Charleston shooting

A man is under arrest for killing a woman and injuring her three-year-old daughter in a shooting at the Vista View Apartments on Renaissance Circle. The little girl is in stable condition. Forty-Six-year-old Dorian Clark fled the scene and was arrested a few hours later. He’s charged with first degree murder and malicious wounding.

Friends and family gathered for a vigil for KJ Taylor. The Capital High School senior who was gunned down earlier this week. They gathered at the corner of Glenwood Avenue and Central Avenue — the scene of the shooting on the city’s West Side.
