Sen. Capito hopes for Flexiblity in Biden infrastructure plan

President Biden is proposing a two-trillion-dollar infrastructure program that would modernize roads, bridges, and aging schools. Senator Shelly Moore Capito says she hopes the plan will give West Virginia on projects to be able to finish Corridor H, and make the state’s bridges more stable.

Gov. Justice does not support Senate tax cut plan

Governor Justice says he does not support the West Virginia Senate’s proposal to cut state income tax. He says it puts too much of a burden on middle and lower income earners. The Senate’s proposal offsets the tax cut with almost 900-million-dollars in tax increases, and raises the sales tax to eight-and-a-half-percent.

WorkForce West Virginia is warning of a texting scam. People are receiving a message that “there are issues with their West Virginia Insurance claim,” with a website link. The site looks like the WorkForce website, but it is not affiliated with the agency.

Walmart greeter attacked by stranger

A Barboursville Walmart greeter is recovering after he was randomly attacked. A man entered the store, turned toward the exit and started punching the victim. The suspect took off in a vehicle, and deputies caught up with him not far from the scene.

Driver leads police on chase across state line

A suspect is in custody after a police pursuit that started in Ohio, and ended in Putnam County. Police in Gallia County tried to stop a stolen vehicle when the driver took off. The chase ended near the Buffalo Bridge when the suspect ditched the car and tried to flee on foot.

Gas company will fix Blue Creek Road slip

Columbia Gas Transmission says it will fix a slip near Blue Creek Road. There has been an ongoing battle between the gas company and private property owners over who is responsible for correcting the slip. Columbia Gas says it will address immediate safety concerns as a good corporate citizen.
