County brieflly turns red on COVID-19 alert map

Webster County briefly turned red on the state’s COVID-19 alert map. Sunday morning the county’s infection rate and percent positive rate were high, but by Sunday afternoon, the county was moved down to orange. Eight counties are in the orange and five are gold.

Charleston Woman is Arrested for Stabbing Another Woman

A woman was arrested Saturday in connection with an early morning stabbing on Charleston’s East End. 22-year old Chastanay Joseph is accused of stabbing 38-year old Trinita Cooper at the 7-Eleven in the 1600 block of Washington Street East. Charleston Police said Cooper was taken to a hospital and is listed in critical condition.

State Archery Tournament Will Be Virtual

West Virginia will hold its Archery in the Schools state tournament in a virtual format from March 25 to 27. Ex-Lawyer sentenced to home confinement

A Charleston lawyer who missed his initial trial date and fled to Nicaragua has been sentenced to home confinement on fraud charges. Sixty-nine-year-old Bill Lester will serve up to three-years under house arrest. He surrendered his law licenses and will pay almost one-hundred-thousand-dollars in restitution.
