Active COVID-19 cases continue to fall in West Virginia, with just over six-thousand cases. That’s the lowest number since the beginning of November. Nine more people died on Friday. The state’s positive test rate is below three-percent.
Starting this morning, bars and restaurants can now open and one-hundred-percent capacity. The same is true for retails stores, gyms, and movie theaters. Two people were hurt in an explosion and fire at the Washington Motel in Ravenswood. Officials are still trying to determine the cause of the explosion and fire, but say it started in a room where home oxygen was in use. Everyone made it out safely. Six rooms were damaged and several people are displaced.
A Grafton man will spend up to thirty years in prison for stealing a fire truck and causing thousands of dollars in damages. Witnesses saw Jason Lyons driving the firetruck in circles and then crashed through a gate. Lyons is also charged with failure to register as a sex offender.
