Governor Justice may relax COVID-19 restrictions

Governor Justice is hinting that he may relax some COVID-19 restrictions by the end of the week. Justice wasn’t specific, but did mention restaurants and schools. Active COVID-19 cases dropped to below eleven-thousand, and no counties are in the “red” on the state’s COVID-19 alert map.

Vaccine clinics canceled

COVID-19 vaccination clinics are being force to cancel events, but Governor Justice says no doses will go to waste. The West Virginia Inter-Agency Task Force for Vaccines is meeting three times a day to coordinate vaccine distribution. The state is expecting more than forty-thousand first-doses of the vaccine next week.

Thousands still without power

Broken tree limbs and ice are pulling down power lines. Appalachian Power restored power to nearly thirty-thousand customers yesterday, but more than twice that number are still in the dark. App power says eight substations are offline, and more than two-dozen distribution circuits are down.

More than 70 arrests made in warrany sweep

More than seventy people are under arrest in one of the largest warrant sweeps in over twenty-years. “Operation Delta 146” was named in honor of fallen officer Cassie Johnson. Almost forty guns, about six pounds of meth, two pounds of marijuana, and a significant amount of money were seized as part of the sweep.
