COVID-19 numbers trend down

West Virginia’s active COVID-19 cases dropped to just over twenty-thousand. That’s the lowest number since early December. Hospitalizations dropped to just over four-hundred. Twelve counties are in the “red” on the COVID-19 alert map.

There’s been another vaccine mix-up…The West Virginia Department of Human Resources say a patient was given a second dose from a different manufacturer than their first dose. Medical experts say the vaccines are not interchangeable, but there should not be any serious side effects, and the individual will still develop immunity.

The Wayne County Republican Executive Committee is suing Governor Justice over the appointment of Joshua Booth to fill a vacant House of Delegates seat. Booth was not on the list submitted by the county GOP. Lawyers for the state contend the wrong local political committee submitted the initial letter, rendering it invalid.

Street named in honor of fallen officer

Charleston City Council approved a resolution to name a street in honor of fallen police officer Cassie Johnson. Johnson was killed in the line of duty in December on Garrison Avenue, which will honorarily be named Patrolman Cassie Johnson Avenue.
