Kanawha County is in Orange on the Latest DHHR Map

WV is making its own PPE

The state of West Virginia is making its own Personal Protective Equipment, and will be self-sufficient by later this month. The state is waiting for final approval on an N95 equivalent mask, and is also producing boot covers, bonnets, and will soon take delivery of a machine to make gowns.

WV’s Rt value lowest in the nation

Four counties moved from orange to red on the state alert map, putting forty-six counties in the red and eight in orange. Clay County is the only county in gold. West Virginia has the lowest person-to-person COVID-19 transmission rate in the country. The state’s Rt value is point-97.

WV reaches 100,000 total COVID-19 cases

West Virginia has reached a grim milestone with more than 100-thousand positive cases of COVID-19 since March. There are 14-hundred new cases of the virus, and twelve more people have died. The state is reporting over 29-thousand active cases.

Work resumes near Nitro/St. Albans bridge

The Donald Legg Memorial Bridge widening project continues this week. Expect delays on I-64 near St. Albans. Crews will be clearing vegetation and installing erosion control measures on the east bound exit ramp.

Evans resigns from House of Delegates

Wayne County Delegate Derrick Evans is out. He resigned from the House of Delegates and is facing two federal charges for taking part in last week’s riot at the Capitol building in Washington D.C.
