“Let Them Play” rally held at the Capitol

Parents, coaches, and athletes gathered at the state Capitol for another “let the play rally.” A few dozen students gathered to call on Governor Justice to move up the winter sports schedule from March 1st. Governor Justice called the rally “silly,” and he’s focused on getting out the COIVD-19 vaccine.

Former DuPont site will become solar array

The former DuPont site in Berkeley County is the future home of a one-hundred-million-dollar solar electricity production facility. Torch Clean Energy will repurpose the 750 acre brownfield site into a one-hundred-megawatt solar array that will provide power to thousands of homes and businesses.

Yeager Airport employee tests positive for COVID-19

A Yeager Airport employee is testing positive for COVID-19. The employee is self-isolating and hasn’t been at the airport since December 30th. The airport has been cleaned and disinfected, and health officials are following up with contact tracing.

COVID-19 number drop slightly

COVID-19 numbers are down. DHHR is reporting over 13-hundred new cases of the virus, which is down by almost two-hundred cases. The number of active cases is over 27-thousand, which is a slight decrease in the past 24-hours. The daily positive test rate dropped almost four-percent and sits at just over seven-percent.

Kanawha County teachers receive COVID-19 vaccine

More than nine-hundred Kanawha County teachers have received the COVID-19 vaccine. Governor Justice is pushing to have at-risk teachers vaccinated before in-person learning resumes on January 19th. Teachers are concerned because they will have only received the first dose of the vaccine.

Suspect charged with killing bear cubs

The state Division of Natural Resources is filing charges against a suspect in connection to the deaths of three bear cubs. The cubs were found last month in the Talbott Road are of Barbour County. Additional charges are pending.

Man wanted after police pursuit

Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man involved in a vehicle chase that started in Sissonville. The pursuit ended with a crash on Hunter Road in Rutledge and the suspect took off on foot.
