Arenas get CARES Act funding

The Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center and three other arenas in the state are getting a boost from CARES Act funding. Each venue will receive 500-thousand-dollars.

47 counties in the red on COVID-19 map

Kanawha County is among forty-seven counties in the state that are in the red on the COVID-19 alert map. Seven of the eight remaining counties are in the orange. Calhoun County is the only county in the yellow. The positivity rate in Kanawha County is over eight-percent, and the infection rate is over 56-percent.

St. Mary’s Correctional officer dies from COVID-19

An officer at St. Mary’s Correctional Center has died from COVID-19. Fifty-eight-year-old Corporal Mark Rustemeyer is the first West Virginia correctional employee to die from the coronavirus. St. Marys’ has the largest COVID-19 outbreak in the prison system with over 250 active cases.
